This is a shot of the barns right outside of the farmhouse,near Hoopole,where Evelyn was born. This was a real working farm where her father George Blackert and her older brothers worked the land. Her mother Anna kept a huge vegetable garden and was reknowned for her cooking.
When Evelyn was a little girl she daringly climbed to the top of the windmill you can see in this picture - causing her mother to call out in fright and scold her recklessness.
