Our third major stop on our southwest adventure was Zion National Park. We staked our claim to a campsite in the Watchman campground for four nights. It was nice to finally be sleeping in the same spot for multiple nights, and not having to move the tent every night. We had planned techincal descents of four different Zion canyons during our stay. Techincal canyoneering involves a variety of climbing techniques, but is most noted for requiring the use of ropes, ascenders, and belay devices to safely rappel over vertical sections within the canyons. Our itinerary in Zion included a descent of the world famous Subway route, a descent of Mystery Canyon (big rappels! :)), Keyhole Canyon, and Pine Creek Canyon.
