Zion Day 2: Mystery Canyon

Mystery Canyon was our second technical canyon descent in Zion. To get to the head of Mystery Canyon you will need to hike about 6 miles, and climb about 2500 feet past Observation Point. Once at the head of the canyon you have to make a wicked descent of 700 feet through brush, boulders, and slippery slope before you even get to the fun parts. But don't be discouraged, what lies ahead is amazing! Mystery requires anywhere from about 12-14 rappels to descend safely, 2 of which are over 120 feet and require multiple ropes. Mystery is a step up from The Subway technically and is quite a long day. In the end Mystery Canyon dumps you into the famous Zion Narrows after a hairy 120 foot rappel down wet rocks.
