Two Rib Cabin in Cooke City, MT was our base for the first week of our trip. Nestled in the Beartooth Mountains five miles from the northeast entrance of Yellowstone, it's a perfect jumping off point for hiking, fishing, wildlife watching, and sightseeing. The wildfires had some impact on us with hazy/smokey skies and road closures, but it could not deter us from enjoying our week exploring and relaxing in the Beartooth Mountains. Here's what our week looked like:
Friday: Arrived in Idaho Falls
Saturday: Drove to Cooke City with stops at Mesa Falls, West Yellowstone, Norris Geyser Basin, and the Boiling River; met Mom and Dad at Two Rib Cabin
Sunday: Glacier Peak hike for Steve, fishing at Little Bear Lake for the rest of us
Monday: Yellowstone Day - Trout Lake, Yellowstone Falls, and Canyon Village
Tuesday: Steve and I hiked to Albino Lake, Dad caught trout on the Soda Butte, Norah got to visit the "Rock Guy"
Wednesday: Steve hiked Cutoff Mountain in Yellowstone, Dad returned to the Soda Butte, and the gals played at the cabin
Thursday: Steve hiked Sawtooth Mountain, rest of us paid a visit to Cody for a trolley tour, lunch, old fashioned pictures, and swimming at the aquatic center
Friday: Norah made a friend while hiking Mt. Washburn in Yellowstone, Dad caught more trout on the Soda Butte
Saturday: on to the Wind River Range!
