s-l1600 - 2019-10-10T204128.237.jpg

An antique, 19th Century tsakli painting depicting in mineral pigments (some minerals crushed into the blue paint to make it sparkle) within a blue radiant centred nimbus encircled by a ring of gold fiery flames stands a gold bodied wrathful deity with a big belly, wearing a skull diadem which holds back his luxuriant hair, a garland of severed heads and a tiger skin dhoti. He also wears lavish, burnished gold bodhisattva jewellery, and his green celestial scarf, finely patterned with burnished gold flows about him as he tramples on 2 figures beneath his feet (one of which appears to be trying to escape). His hands, which hold a burnished gold bell and dorje are in Abhaya Hrdaya mudra, or Fearless Heart mudra. A line of text to the base of the reverse plus marks of affixing (probably within a gau). 7.1 x 8.4cm

other sizes: small medium large original auto
