Completed in 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge was a 19th century engineering marvel, being the longest suspension bridge of its time with a span of 1595 feet over the East River.
We started from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade with its magnificent view of Lower Manhattan. We then joined hundreds of tourists to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan.
A day before, we passed under the Brooklyn Bridge on a cruise around Manhattan Island.
