The world’s largest museum was originally a fortress and palace of the French kings. After the French Revolution, it became a museum. When we visited Paris in early June 2016, Europe had been experiencing torrential rainfall and the River Seine rose to historical high flood level. The Louvre had to close to relocate its priceless treasures to upper floors. We were disappointed on its closure, but a nearly empty central courtyard and its glass pyramid by I.M. Pei offered a different photographic opportunity.
