Exhibition gallery header: Boats by Niamh

Whitby Harbour, North Yorkshire, UK

The "big" boat is a 40% size replica of HM Bark Endeavour,
in which James Cook sailed to Australia in 1768.
Shot taken in Whitby Harbour, North Yorkshire, UK.

This photo that Niamh posted to the Big and Little Challenge exhibition gallery got me interested in selective colour and inspired me to create 'Reds' for the Diagonals Challenge comp gallery.
That ultimately led me to choose a Touch of Colour as the theme for C9.

Well, I really appreciate your kind comments Pat and Tim, especially since this is the "header" image and not actually an entry into the Exhibition! I'm glad you liked the image - I guess John DU did too, since he's "borrowed" it here. :)

By itself, the black and white image carries a lot of interest. The highlighted flag really adds depth of meaning making this image work both as a "naturalist" treatment and a kind of expressionist art as well. - Pat

What a stunning, sensitively taken and processed image. Breathtaking. Tim
