Kingston Flyer by Jack Grouell

This one is straight out of the camera...

Wish I could say I was thinking ahead to challenge #9 when I took this - truth is I am fascinated by machinery and take pictures of it whenever the opportunity arises. I also appreciate the beauty of machined parts and there are several in this picture. I must give credit for making the picture to the person who did the red paint…

Nice dynamic composition and I'm not sure I agree with John about cropping the track - it contextualises the image and gives what would otherwise be a very tight crop some room to breath... Tim A

Very nice. The red draws you right in, but there are enough other interesting components to keep you there. Elsa

Hi Jack,
Nice start. You really steamed out of the station when the C9 whistle sounded. Your use of water in the theme is a little more subtle this time than for your C8 masterpieces. I'm pleased that this first post demonstrates how you can satisfy the theme without having to resort to post-processing. I like the simple composition in this one with the eye clearly drawn to, you got it, the coloured bit. You must have known this Challenge was in your future when you took the shot. Now if it was me, I might have tried to shift the red subject down a bit by cropping away some of the nondescript track from the bottom of the pic. Well done all the same.
Cheers, John
