We first explored the western part of this beautiful country staying in the fishing town of Stykkisholmur. There is a stark yet verdant beauty to this land. A few notes: Many of these images were made as the bus was driving so there is occasionally some blur. If you look closely you can sometimes see window reflections (although I have tried to avoid those) and sometimes the windows were dirty. I have made a choice though to not eliminate some of these just because the beauty over shadows these "flaws." As photographers we need to work with what we are given. I will give place names where I can but I am not sure how to type the appropriate accent marks on my computer - so Icelanders who view these images please forgive me. Finally, the 64 images here are selected from about a thousand - some seem similar - but, in the spirit of sharing beauty, if you have the time I recommend looking at each of them.
