Swampbuggy Races - March, 2005

This is a southwest Florida phenomenon as far as I can tell. There are a series of races with the teams competing for the Budweiser championship. We were only able to stay for a couple of hours, but I was fascinated by the spectacle. If you can imagine a cross between a drag race and a souped up road race...but on a dirt track with 2-6 feet of water covering it you can understand the strange design of the "buggies" in the pictures. The photos are of modified stock and pro class races.
