Spitfire Mk Vb.
This is my Airfix 1/24th scale Mk Vb Spitfire in 303 squadron colours.
303 Squadron was formed in 1940 with Polish airmen and fought with distinction throughout the Second World War.
The markings on this plane belong to Jan Zumbach, one of the founding airmen who would go on to become both an Ace and Squadron Leader.
The Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight painted one of their Mk Vb spitfires in the same colours for a few years.
The model now hangs from the ceiling of Clacton Art, Craft and Model Centre where my wife works.
It is displayed wheels up in flight but with the engine cowlings removed to show off the detail in there.
