I made all of the traditional foods for New Years Day. We had ham with black-eyed peas and finished the meal off with some greens sauteed with garlic and butter. NOM! Well, I had leftovers of course, because I can't seem to cook for only two or three people. So I threw the everything into the crockpot with some water and chicken stock and made this lovely soup. The hamhock that the beans were cooked with gave it a nice, smoky flavor. The greens had just the right touch of residual bitterness without being overpowering, and the garlic made it all just come together nicely. Totally delicious!
