This time last week this space was filled with ivy.
The ivy was strangling this rowan and had filled up the whole space between it and the fence.
It took me two days to cut the vines and kill the roots.
After leaving it for a few days, I returned to discover much of the vine had relaxed its grip.
So I took off as much as I could.
If trees had emotions, I'm sure this one would be crying tears of joy.
I removed the vine from around the trunk and was pleased to see the nice smooth silver bark intact.
There is still a lot of ivy in the canopy, but I'll leave that to wither.
After the tree sheds its leaves I will get as much of the vine off as I can.
