This shot was taken in total darkness of the scene infront of me and of the night sky. It was a fairly clear evening with some very tangent moonlight.
With Abby gone already to Virginia for the Easter weekend I spent way too much of the evening trying to get a body of water with reflection photo.
Well after a frustrating hour or two of driving around trying to find a nice shot, I gave up and drove all the way to Oak Ridge (a city that borders Knoxville) where I knew this shot existed. The tower you see is from a TVA power plant, and several miles away from where I took this shot. It is reflected in Lake Melton.
I parked in a local park, the lights were already off for the eveing so I made this shot in total darkness and then took a second shot, once I saw the first results, to level the tripod and frame up the scene better.
The brownish orange glow, on the edge of the horizon, is from the city lights of Knoxville, TN.
I like how the long exposure smooths out the ripples that were in the water from ducks out of frame.
