Dasypus novemicinctus
This interesting animal has a low body temperature (33-36 degrees C)
and has armor formed by plates of dermal bone covered with scales
called scutes. This armor is the main defense of the animal.
This animal is moving further and further North in the US primarlily
because of the absence of natural predators.
