Jasper 2021 (J8)

Jasper 2021, #8. Helen is 14 & Adrian is 12. We got the #1 cabin for July 25-31st, added some spots as my wife & I (she especially) are started to need things somewhat "freshened." I got 3 new grills during the year with an idea towards having the means to grill in order to work around the small kitchen area they give you. I got a $10 electric around March & and $60 fold-up propane around June, then a $20 larger portable one about a week before we left, which is the one I took (plus the Coleman stove).

We took my new 2007 Toyota Camry I'd bought about a month ago from Thomas Rains from Crosspointe Church, as it has a stronger A/C than my wife's Vibe. It gave us starting problems on the first & last day which somewhat marred the trip's ending (and got things off to a shaky start), but it did fine during the trip itself & as expected had a strong AC. I bought "quickie" roof racks online for hauling more luggage. Managing the photos at the laptop was made cheap-easy with a $30 laptop I got around May & a SSD 500G for around $40 (instead of USB flash, it was a lot faster backing up to it).

Cameras--last year we had 2 Sony RX100 IIIs, sold one and used the one I still had, this meant I had to get the wife something, got her a cheap Nikon D3200 kit (with 18-55 VR and 18-200 VR, the latter of which really was handy for me at times), returned it once we got back as its built-in pop-up flash didn't work, but it was fine for this vacation. I upgraded my Olympus E-M10 II to a Nikon Z50 kit last Sept 2020 and it really was a good camera for this trip, one I wish I'd had the whole time frankly.

We will probably be staying at new cabins next year ( http://www.buffaloriverlogcabins.net/) as the regular ones no longer have the "Lawson charm" of being easy-going--the waterslide was gone over "insurance" concerns & they're big on kids below 16 requiring their parents to be present (although they were OK with us as we were close-by with cabin #1 & Helen looks so grown). Also, as the kids are getting bigger, the lack of room is more pressing.

New spots I looked to checking out but didn't: Blanchard, Cedar Flats, Gunner, Redding, Tanyard, Trigger Gap, Wolf Pen, Wreckhole (plus the Houston MO spots).
