There are three churches named St. Nicholas in Prague. The other prominent one is located on Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square). This one is found on Malostranské náměstí (Lesser Town Square). The church and adjoining buildings divide the Square into two parts. This church has the finest Baroque interior in the country. The only other church in Prague that is as interesting is the Gothic/Neo-Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral. I found St. Nicholas more pleasant due to the lack of the numerous tourists group found at the cathedral. Constructed between 1703 and 1761, it was designed by, and built under the supervision of Kryštof Dientzenhofer. After his death, the work was continued by his son Kilián who did not live to see it finished. The completion was supervised by Anselmo Lurago, Kilian’s son-in-law.
