Eyed paectes moth (Paectes oculatrix), #8957

Reveler Conservation Area

I was delighted to find this unusual looking moth. The caterpillars feed mainly on poison ivy as well as sumac. There is not much of the former at the conservation area, but lots of sumac shrubs.

Great find and image Christine. Those wing markings sure resemble eyes.
