Autumn Meadowhawk (Sympetrum vicinum)

Ferguson Forest. This little dragonfly was sitting on some orange paint that had long ago been sprayed onto a rock. There were about 6 or 7 of these meadowhawks around. They are sturdy little creatures who can be found flying well into late fall as their name suggests (they used to be called Yellow-legged meadowhawks).

Great image of this meadowhawk with a really beautiful background colour. With the cold, wet and windy weather we have, I think the dragonfly season is almost over.V

Smashing shot on golden sand, which really shows the rich brown of the meadowhawk. V
