This was a planned-in-detail trip for us two oldies, before we get too decrepit to enjoy travelling. Five days to get to Melbourne so as to include some experiences looked forward to for years, then a daytime crossing to Tasmania, ten days in Tas with summery weather, more new experiences, great Tasmanian food, wonderful Tasmanian scenery to photograph, a visit to old friends, crossing Bass Strait at night, two days from Melbourne back to Sydney visiting my sister on the way. This could be an advertisement for a 10-year old Subaru, or for Tasmania, or for the benefits of hip surgery, or for the joys of togetherness in old age.
