I booked a B&B in Deloraine as our first overnight stop on this holiday, choosing Glendalough because its website suggested a slightly quirky place with an interesting host. Great choice: we could have stayed much longer: Geoff Woods offers not just a quiet generous hospitality, but an insight into the life and history of this town. A book about him would be long and worth reading.
Liffey Falls was on the itinerary because I had been there twenty years ago and wanted to improve on the photographs I had taken then. But the track has been rebuilt so that getting to where I had been then would involve a difficult and probably illegal scramble. And there is much less water.
The slideshow includes photographs I took in 1993 when Liffey Falls had more water and the boardwalk at Pine Lake was still under construction. If you click on those images in the slideshow, you will be taken to the 1993 gallery.
