I have heard Rays Comforts " The Way of the Master" 30 times. Listened to even the paid for audio files he and Kirk Cameron have put out many times. I agree with their approach to biblical evangelism. So more or less this is how to share the gospel the way Jesus did. You may like another way but try this, its quite simple. If you are a Christian you will have a zeal to share the gospel, in fact its commanded of you ! You wont need to remember where these scriptures are but it helps if asked of a listner where they are.
Inside your converstation ( after showing your pleasant nature) try to sway the natural to the spiritual. For example, talk about the weather, ... then say how God has given us such and such weather. Its very simple to get God into any conversation. Then ask your friend if he ( she ) thinks they will make it to heaven. Those who are going will know they are and can share their faith with you. Those who dont.... well here it goes.
Ask anyone if they are going to heaven . Before they answer interject this 2cd question because most would like to talk about their own character instead of Gods character. Those who dont know Jesus will think they are going to heaven based on their good merits or what they ' think" they know about God. So ... " are you a good person"? Most who dont know Gods Word will answer YES !.
Every man is righteous in his own eyes. Proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
Many will judge themselves by the standards of others Luke 16:15- Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
------------ The hardest thing to do in sharing the gospel is learning a few of the 10 commnandments but you can do it. You use these commandments to show your listener that he is guilty of Gods moral law and the reason you use these commandments is because in Romans 3:19 God says ... Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. We use the commandments to strip the self righteous from his righteousness and show them they are guilty before a righteous God. So lets crank up a converstation.
So do you think your going to heaven or hell ? Lets try this test and see how you will fare on Judgment Day. Ask them just a few questions from the 10 commandments. We will do a few in order as they are given in Exodus 20. Try to at least remember 3, thats should be all you need.
3rd Comandment, have you ever use the Lords name in vain ? Not referring to God with the honor He deserves is using His name in vain and the Lord says he will not hold someone guiltless that uses His name in van. You dont have to attach a curse word to God to use His name in vain. Why would you refer to God who gave you your life and all thats in it with a meaning of disgust and displeasure ? Guilty 1 for 1
5th commandment Honor your father and your mother. Have you ever dishonored your parents ? Disobeyed them, lied to them, talked back to them ? If so you have broken that commandment and dishonered God as well. Even if you think they dont deserve honor, God says otherwise. You honor God when you honor your parents. Guilty 2 for 2
6th commandment ever KILL anyone ? No ? Jesus said if you ever hated anyone you are guilty of murder . 1 John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. See Jesus cares more about the condition of your heart than whether or not you actually committed a sin, because the heart is where sin starts. Jesus said if your angry without just cause you are in danger of judgment ! Mathew 5:21 Guilty 3 for 3
7th commandment.. ever committed Adultery ? No ? Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Have you ever looked at someone with lust ? Of course you have. Guilty 4 for 4
8 th commandment Ever stole anything ? No ? Thou shalt not steal, God doest care about the value, that is irrespective of his commandment. Ever been at work for any amount of time and wasnt working when you should be ? Thats stealing from your employer. Guilty, 5 for 5
Lets try the 9th Commandment.. Bearing false witness telling a lie. Have you ever told a lie, white lie, fib, exaggeration, half truth ? Everyone has and in Rev 21:8 God says all llars will have thier part in the lake of fire. Guity 6 for 6
10th commandment Thou shalt not covet. Wanting something that doesnt belong to you. This starts out as a spark of desire that could result in causing you to break a number of commandments. Guilty 7 for 7.
So on Judgment Day do you think you will go to heaven or hell ?
Heaven ? Why with all these charges against you that you have admitted ? Because you think God is good and He will forgive you ? So your going to tell God your sorry and you know Hes a good God and will forgive you ? ... is that what your saying ? Well you should be sorry but God cant forgive you because as you said He is a good God. He is so good that He has to do what is right and condemn murders , rapists , child molestors .. AND he is so good he has to judge liars , thieves and fornicators. God is so GOOD that on Judgment Day He is going to take in account of every idle word you have ever spoken ( Matthew 12:36). God even knows our thoughts and intents of our hearts. Just like those commandments we went over, He knows when we covet, lust, get angry,are envious, jealous and spiteful. He even knows when we know to do good and decide not to do it (James 4:17) ! -Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. This is how GOOD God will be on Judgment Day. We dont even need to argue with God about our guilt because He said ALL men have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God ( Romans 3:23 ). And the wages of sin is DEATH ( Romands 6:23). There is absolutely NOTHING we can do about it. No good deeds or going to church can save us from hell. Isaiah 64:6 says.." all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags "
Its apparently clear that there is no hope on Judgment Day for the lost ! But God in His loving mercy provided a way for us to keep from being handed what we deserve for our sins... that is a lake of fire called Hell. What did He do for us? Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God sent His Son Jesus to be scourged and nailed to a cross so that a way to escape hell could be provided. Jesus shed his precious blood to wash away our sins so that we may be forgiven. Gods Goodness demanded blood be shed so that our sins can be forgiven. ( Hebrews 9:22 ) So finally the big question is " what can we do to keep from being found guilty on Judgment Day "? Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Ask Jesus into your heart so much to the point that this belief causes you to speak his name in converstation and to live a life that is acceptable to Him. When should you do this ? RIGHT NOW ! Luke 12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? You could die at any minute. Your next breath is not promised to you, so please take the gift that God has so graciously paid for into your heart so that we may be forgiven on Judgment Day.
Dear Lord, please forgive me for all the sins I have done in my life. I understand the outcome if I am found guilty on Judgment Day and I so want to be innocent. Please Lord come into my heart and change me so I will be acceptable to you. Help me grow in the knowledge and love you have provided. Amen
