In English, Zuiderkerk is southern tower. It is the first Protestant church in Amsterdam. It was constructed between 1603 and 1611. The clock tower is the icon of this church.
The clock was installed on the tower in 1656. Due to the capacity of funeral services was much lower than the population of passed away in the last stage of World War II, this church was converted as a morgue from 1944 - 1945.
