Passargad (Passargadae): ( ѐ )The first capital of the Persian Empire.The construction of the capital city by Cyrus the Great, begun around 546 BCE. Passargad remained the Persian capital until Darius began assembling another in Persepolis. The most important monument in Passargad is undoubtedly the tomb of Cyrus the Great. I am an Iranian and am very proud of my country's history specially the Persian Empire which was more than 2000 years ago... I am proud not because of its size & victories, just because Persian Empire (unlike Roman & Greek Empires) never practiced slavery and respected other nations, faiths and cultures. I am specially proud of Cyrus the Great and what he achieved at that time... As we all know, many of the present and modern world leaders are far behind his mentality and what he practiced during his time....

One day I will visit your great country,the craddle of human civilization to see all this with my own eyes.
Amazing that after almost 3000 years there are still remains of this city.
Alexander and all the rest after him,and it might not be good to mention names in this time ;-)),tried to bring down the remains of that civilization.Same happened with the Incas and Aztekes in South America,where the barbarian Spaniards had no eye for civilization at all,and killed and robbed most of them.
And we think we live now in a civilized world ;-))

Beautiful and clear pictures! Cyrus The Great had to be one of the most fair and compassionate leader of all ancien times. Much better than the Mesopotamian leaders.
