I thought I had the GPS turned on, on my Canon 6D. Apparently not, so I'm not quite sure where this is, but judging by the photos before and after it, I'd say it's in Upstate New York, somewhere between Lake George and Ticonderoga (or possibly the Lake Champlain Bridge). I do have a GPS tracker on my phone and I've uploaded it to Google Earth, but haven't had time to look closely. I'll update location when I can.

Albany Covered Bridge, White Mountain National Forest, NH
State of New Hampshire: Location:
Just north of the Kancamagus Highway, six miles west of N.H. Route 16 on Dugway Road in Albany spanning the Swift River.
Style of Bridge:
Paddleford truss with added arches
Year of Construction:
1858
Original Cost:
$1,300
Structural Characteristics:
The bridge is 120'0" long with a clear span of 100'0". It has an overall width of 21'0" with a roadway width of 15'3", and a maximum vertical clearance of 11'0". It is posted for six tons.
Maintained By:
Town of Albany
World Guide Number:
29-02-06
New Hampshire Number:
49
Historical Remarks:
The first bridge on this site was constructed in 1857 and destroyed by a windstorm in 1858. At that time, Amzi Russell and Leandre Morton entered into an agreement with the town to build a new bridge for $1,300 minus the amount previously paid for the original bridge. The bridge has wide shallow arches and sharply raked facades. The U.S. Forest Service replace the wooden floor timbers with steel in 1981-1982. Near the bridge is a mud sill, taken from the bed of the river by the U.S. Forest Service, which probably supported the falsework or scaffolding during the construction of the span. The Albany Bridge is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

The East Branch and Lincoln Railroad
by Bill Gove
The East Branch & Lincoln Railroad, built by James E. Henry, was the largest logging railroad in New England, covering about 72 miles, sidings included. And the railroad lasted far longer than any other logging line in the region. Construction began in 1894 and continued sporadically over a number of years. The last train chugged out of the Lincoln woods in 1948, fifty-four years later .Lincoln village was the site of a large sawmill and later a pulp mill and a paper mill built by James E. Henry. Henry’s efforts created the large municipality of Lincoln, NH , arising from a wilderness home site in the 1890s.
A large array of locomotives ran on the East Branch and Lincoln Railroad, more than any other logging line in New England. J. E. Henry’s operation used about seven locomotives, all ‘rod ‘engines with saddle-tanks. The Parker Young Co., a later owner, employed three Shays, one Climax and five “rod” locomotives, four of them left over from the Henry days. Logs were hauled on individual log trucks or disconnects, and link-and-pin couplers were used right to the very end.
The entire operation was purchased by the Parker Young Company in 1917 and then later by the Marcalus Manufacturing Co. in 1946. Even after the end of the poorly maintained railroad in 1948, the paper mill struggled to continue on in operation until 1980. The failure to meet EPA pollution standards at the mill, followed by the closure of the Boston & Maine Pemi Branch, doomed the paper mill.
State House Building, Montpelier, Vermont
From Wikipedia: The current structure was designed by architect Thomas Silloway (1828–1910) amplifying the design of an earlier structure designed by Ammi B. Young, (1798–1874) later supervising architect of the U.S. Treasury.
And roofs were originally painted a dark terracotta red to suggest Tuscan tile. The dome was not gilded until the early 20th century, when many states did so as a part of the Colonial Revival style. The dome is topped by a statue named Agriculture, a representation of Ceres, an ancient Roman goddess of agriculture. The original statue was carved by Vermont artist Larkin Goldsmith Mead, who also carved the large bust of Lincoln in the Hall of Inscriptions on the State House's ground floor. The current statue is a replacement, and something of a piece of folk art, based on Mead's original. It was carved in 1938 by then 87-year-old Dwight Dwinell, Sergeant-at-Arms (in Vermont this official position is similar in nature to the White House Chief Usher).
The Doric portico, the main ceremonial entrance, houses a granite statue of Ethan Allen. Ethan Allen was a founder of Vermont and commander of the Green Mountain Boys, an early Vermont military infantry active during the Vermont Republic, (1777–1791). The statue was carved by Aristide Piccini in 1941, to replace the original marble version carved by Larkin Goldsmith Mead in 1858. The architect Stanford White (1853–1906) considered Silloway's Vermont State House to be the finest example of the Greek Revival style in the United States.

Starry Afterglow
This shot was taken approximately 1 hour after sunset local time (Melbourne, Florida). The foreground lighting is from street lamps around the boat ramp. The brighter, whiter lighting on the right is from the light for the flag across the little inlet. The horizon glow is quite exaggerated due to the 25 seconds this exposure lasted. I have a picture, taken with my phone, that shows the lake as basically pitch black darkness, so I assume the glow is a combination of the remnants of the sunset and the city of Orlando 50 miles west.

It's been an up and down year. I'd have to say it's been a great year for photography - I certainly enjoyed myself in that respect. But for the most part, 2012 was the worst year of my life with the passing of my mother in October (just days after my fall trip to the Carolinas).
I tell folks that my dad, who is a professional photographer, got me into the art. But it was always my mom who truly encouraged me to go out and make the best of it. Up until her eyesight diminished, she enjoyed seeing my photography and pushed me to work at improving my skill set.
It won't be easy now that she's gone, but from here on out, I resolve to do my best, enjoy my favorite hobby and dedicate the very best to her.

This is a composite of two pictures I took that I later put together in Photoshop.

Jupiter and Uranus
The bright star in the lower right is Jupiter. The star just to the left and above is Uranus. I'm guessing that the two points to the lower right are Jovian moons (but I could be wrong).
I was trying to get a picture of the ISS passing above Jupiter out front, but that didn't quite work out. I really need a better quality telephoto.

Stunning
The photo doesn't do this car justice. The flames that are ghosted into the ENTIRE car body are amazing. I would love to own this car.
There was another car at the event that simply blew me away and I wish I had taken a picture of it (it rolled us on their way out). It was a burgundy Corvette with ghosted flames that had a holographic effect. They were so life-like. And they seemed to 'lick' as the light changed.

Ford Motometer
I remembered that originally, the hood ornaments had an actual function other than decoration. They were the temperature/pressure gauge. This is on a Ford Model A Speedster.

Foose Mustang
This was one of my favorites at the show. Absolutely beautiful. I am a big fan of just about any car Foose designs. I was talking to my uncle about the Foose/Shelby/Roush Mustang earlier, but didn't expect to see one of his cars here. Actually, there was another Foose car at the show on display at the Mother's Wax tent.

Show or Fair?
I was walking by this when I realized that the angle I was looking from gave the scene a nice 'look'. It kind of made me think of an old car ad, the family parking their new car and going to the state fair. The booths kind of give it a fairground look.
28-NOV-2010
Street Legal?
I wouldn't say yes. A German tourist came up to me as I was taking this and asked me if this would be allowed on the road. I honestly don't know. Remember the movie 'Carbon Copy' with George Segal and Denzel Washington? George asks Denzel "How much did you pay for this car?" and he replies, "14 dollars and a record player." "You were robbed!"

Hell Hath No Fury
Probably because it was parked at Daytona. Beautiful car. Truly a land yacht.
28-NOV-2010
Mustang at Daytona
I had to get down on the ground to take this. I absolutely hated seeing that ugly bus (that's still partially visible) in the background. I have lived here for more than a quarter century, yet this was the first time I had been inside Daytona's track. The last raceway I had been in was the old Riverside International Speedway in Moreno Valley, California (a distant memory and a shopping center now) when my dad worked there.

Flamin' Rod
One of many 'hot' rods at the show. I'm torn as to whether I like this classic style of flaming more than the more realistic flames like Mike Lavalle does. Lavalle has some incredible flame jobs out there.

Lake Washington Panorama
A panorama of sunset on Lake Washington in Melbourne, Florida. I forgot to switch out of auto white balance, so the area around the sun didn't blend as well as the sides. Luckily, I live right down the street, so I'll give it another shot soon. I need to get a panning head for my tripod too. The ball head is great, but not for panning. Any recommendations?

1st Attempt
My first real attempt at producing the spinning stars type of image. Obviously it's overexposed - especially with light pollution (this was taken in my side yard). I may drive out into the St. John's River area, away from the city and see what I can get.
Is it better to do this in one long exposure (setting suggestions?) or taken using a remote timer while dragging the shutter then compositing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

A look from the front of the AAFES HQ building in Dallas, Texas. As you can see, the sign says "Serving the Best Customers in the World" and that they are. If you go to Iraq or Afghanistan or a myriad of other places in the world where are troops are deployed, you won't find a Wal-Mart or a Target, but you WILL find AAFES.

Manhunt
My co-worker, Sherri, and I were heading home from a TDY at Homestead Air Reserve Base last Thursday when the manhunt for cop-killer Shawn Labeet. The shootings had taken place not four blocks from where we had been working. The Air Force put the building into lockdown, but we had managed to leave just before they did so. The Florida Turnpike was closed down and so we had to take surface streets north until we could get into the clear. Along the way, not surprisingly, were several hundred cops from just about every imaginable agency. The second light we were at, an FHP trooper stopped and got out his rifle, the next had cops flying every which way through the intersection, and at the next one, this van sitting in the intersection. We imagine that Labeet must've followed us because he was cornered and ultimately killed in Pembroke Pines which we passed on our way north.

Coca-Cola Mural
A Coca-Cola mural behind the 7-Eleven in Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. The mural was painted on the outside wall at the end of a strip mall. I believe it was painted for the store that used to occupy that last shop - a Doubles sandwich shop.
Update (Nov 08): This mural has been painted over. It's kinda sad that it's gone. It was, in my opinion, a great feature of the building. Recently, the owners of the little plaza decided to renovate and this was one of the first things to go.

Tribute
Long abandoned roadside markers denote the section of the Sarno Extension that the three young people, including two teens, were killed when the car they were in crashed into a canal. Autumn Gomme, 15, Jeremy Charles, 21, and Michael Reinertsen, 16, were killed. Wreckless driving on a poorly maintained road were to blame.
The "Sarno Extension" is actually a three+ mile long dirt road that runs from the Interstate 95/Eau Gallie Blvd interchange, west towards Lake Washington. The area is popular with four wheelers, motorcyclists and air-boaters and the twin lakes (one of which feeds the canal the above three perished in) is used by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office dive team for practices.

Sunset over Homestead
Taken near the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. The area is a patchwork of farms that are slowly disappearing in favor of condos and housing developments that are almost all nearly half empty.

Henry
The tabby and prime instigator. Although he's quite small for his age, he's the one that causes the most trouble. He meows in his sleep too.

Bandit
Named Bandit for obvious reasons. This is *my* cat. Extremely loyal.

Molly
The quietest, most skittish cat I own. She doesn't meow, unless she's getting a bath.
