Texel is a municipality and an island in North Holland, Netherlands. It is the largest and most populated island of the West Frisian Islands in the Wadden Sea. About 14000 people are living on the island. During holidays or in the summer season the island is overcrowded. If you want to avoid this it's better to visit Texel in early spring or fall. The West Frisian Islands or Wadden Islands are a chain of islands in the North Sea off the Dutch coast, along the edge of the Wadden Sea.
