Hunted close to extinction in the 1800's in New Zealand, The Hookers Sea Lion is making a comeback on the South Island of New Zealand.
These pups were born on the Otago Peninsula. Cute when young, they can be quite agressive in the breeding season.
Despite their size can move quite fast, as many unsuspecting tourists find out. The pink tag on the front flipper is a Depertment of Conservation marker.
