My grandfather's sister, Aunt Maggie Arnold (Vining) owned a cafe here in the first part of the 1900's Arnold's Cafe. She was married to George Arnold, and had a daughter Millie. If any of you remember this family, I would love to hear from you!

I am the Grandson of Addison Whitley Logan and Alpha Retta Potts Logan, And the Grandson Of John Gordon Miller and Minnie Lee Bryant Miller; The son of Benjamin Claude Logan and Mae Lee Miller. All my male ancestors worked in the mines at Brilliant. Any information on the Miller and Potts sides of the families would be greatly appreciated. At one time the Author of "Tories of the Hills" Wesley Sylvester Thompson and his wife Letha, their two daughters Rebecca Ann and Annie Laura, came to Oklahoma and lived with us for a short while. I do wish others would post old photos, or recent ones on your site. I have started a "Webb" genealogy, and found that my ancestors lived in Brilliant in the 1800's and would love seeing photos of the area during that time. I saw where someone from Winfield had a facebook site with lots of old photos from there, I don't think enough people see this site, it's very well done. I enjoyed looking through these you have on here.

I believe the older gentleman in the Goldmine school photo (3rd row left) would be Jim Logan the school master. His father (Andrew Logan) donated the property for the school, cemetery and church.

I was just cruising the internet and have been thinking about my grandmother. I decided to "google" Brilliant Ala and see what I could find. Her name was Lillie E Vickery and she was married to Belton Vickery. I am the daughter of Buddy Vickery. I was looking at your pictures and remember hearing stories about some of the places when I was a child. My father actually worked in a coal mine in Brilliant. I wonder if it was the one in your picture.
