Jimmie Thompson: Thank You ! Wonderful photos. My family is Addison Whitley Logan married Alpha Retta Potts from Brilliant, and worked the mine. Also had relatives named Wesley Sylvester Thompson. Mothers family was John Gordon Miller @ Yampertown. Any relation?
Laurie McMackin: I have an ancestry book about the Logan/Corkren, McKillip families written by Ester ??? Rhoda Gilbert Cochran is mentioned in this book and we are related by marriage several generations back.

My grandmother was from Brilliant. Her name was Inez Cochran. She was the daughter of Rhoda Gilbert and Allie Bennie Cochran, and the grandaughter of Mary Carylon Lambert and James Jessee Gilbert. I have a picture that was taken on the same day as this picture (Same clothes, building, hair and everything). It includes Dora Gilbert, the lady to the right of Dora, the gentleman standing next to her on the right (with the pine branch pinned to his lapel), the genltlman standing directly above him, and the girl standing 8th from the right on the 3rd row. I believe that Dora and Wheeler Gilbert were siblings to my great-grandmother Rhoda Gilbert Cochran. If I ever get the picture scanned, I'll send it to you. Please email me if you know the identities of any of these people. I have a picture of a my great-grandmother and two other women wearing big hats. I've wondered if the woman standing next to Dora was in this picture. I also have a picture of a Brilliant coal social that is similar to the one you have posted. I wonder if they're related?
