I mentioned in a previous shot that motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians seemed to mix reasonably well in Firenze.

Of course, on roads it can be a different matter. Here we see a motorcyclist who is down, off in the distance. A police car faces the downed motorcycle, against the flow of traffic.

I'm not sure whether that's a regular police car of the Polizia di Stato (the civil state police) or a police car of the Carabinieri (a military force which enforces civil order in most of the country). It wouldn't surprise me if it were the latter since the building on the left - the one with the Italian flag on it - was at the time a training school for brigadiers and marshals of the Carabinieri. (In the same year that this shot was taken it moved about 5km to the north west to the Castello district.)

So where is this exactly? It's on the Piazza della Stazione. The problem is that road names tend to be more useful when they're unique, and I count not less than three roads by that name in this district, two of which run perpendicular to each other. This is the Piazza della Stazione which is south of the Santa Maria Novella railway station. No, not the loop road, the one just south of that which runs (in the case of this shot) east to west looking toward the Autostazione Busitalia parking station. Our apartment could be found by following the building on the right along its front (yes, that's the Piazza della Stazione too), which then became the Via Luigi Alamanni, then turning left into our street.

Was anyone hurt in the accident? I have no information on that, but it doesn't appear so and no ambulance ever put in an appearance.
