Four-spotted skimmer (Libellula quadrimaculata)

Marlborough Forest. This dragonfly suddenly dropped into the water in front of me and lay on its back. I got a stick and held it out and it reached up and grasped it. I gently lifted him to shore where he climbed onto a blade of grass and began moving his front legs over his head several times, as flies do. Then he grasped this leaf and sat there presumably drying his very wet wings.

Bless you, Christine for caring for the tiny and precious beings. He returned your kindness by posing for yet another fantastic macro, beautiful wings. V
