Calling toad (Bufo americanus)

When you hear frogs and toads giving their mating calls you know spring is really here. The toads are bit earlier than usual, but given the early spring, this is not surprising. This small pond must have had about 100 toads calling, mating, laying eggs. Once this is over, they'll head back to their upland habitat. The eggs will hatch in 3 to 5 days and then in late summer the tadpoles will transform into toadlets...
