Young Blue Heron

Cowichan Bay

This young Blue Heron still has soft down. It looks too young to have left the nest and we're not sure why he is out of the nest - kicked out or fell out?

Poor little guy! I hope he makes it. They're on the decline because of heavy predation. Extremely sharp, detailed shot. Gail R.
