What a delightful combination! I love the sharp, clear bird with the two clear, simple forms (upright and peak). The nesting material adds purpose to the bird's presence, and the background is nicely neutral, with light bands to add interest.
Two suggestions, though: the image isn't quite straight (listing to the right), and would look even better if run through noise reduction software like Neat Image. Otherwise, a wonderful shot.
