Northern water snake (Nerodia sipedon) and Mink frog (Rana septentrionalis)

Marlborough Forest, west of Ottawa. There were four water snakes quite active late this afternoon, and this particular one was taking a rest while a mink frog sat close by. Since snakes eat frogs, not sure what was going on here!

I think the snake already had a nice frog lunch. There seems to be a bump about a quarter length down. Great catch!!! Love it. Vote!
