Biltmore Depot, Asheville, North Carolina (1896)

This depot was commissioned by George Washington Vanderbilt III, who had instructed his wife in his will to sell 86,000 acres to the US Forest Service to create one of the nations first national forests, Pigsah National Forest.

Building materials include pine bark in the roof and jequitiba fruit, kielmeyera fruit, schima fruit and acorn cap in the chimneys.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

We went to the United States Botanic Garden’s Season’s Greenings exhibit titled “All Aboard,” which showcases historic train stations from around the country made almost entirely from plant materials.
