The horse

We also visited the National Museum of the American Indian, a relatively new Smithsonian museum that I had visited after it first opened. I remember not liking it much then, and still am not enamored with it, although some of the displays are interesting.

I saw this Native American basket (I forget which tribe made it) in a souvenir shop and enquired about it. The clerk said it was a horse, which I couldn’t figure out because it was sitting on its long end and looked like some kind of trophy. When he showed it to me, in the proper position, it became clear what he was talking about. I really liked it, but with a price tag of $3,500 (!) it was simply out of the question. He sadly put it back in the display, right side up.

Way too expensive even though the workmanship is beautiful. V

It is a beautiful piece of artwork but a bit of culture shock at that price! Super capture! V

A very nice piece but not worth the money.

an attractive piece indeed....agree though about declining....for that money you would want a herd of horses....
