Ear of Corn Water Tower, Minnesota

We visited the US Botanic Garden’s annual “Season’s Greenings” display titled “Roadside Attractions” featuring plant-based recreations of iconic sights from across the United States, with G gauge model trains chugging around, below, through and above the displays.

This giant ear of corn is 150 feet tall and has towered over the town of Rochester since 1931. In addition to providing water, it is a symbol of the importance of agriculture to the surrounding community.

Building materials: gourd (ear), acorn caps (kernels), oak leaves (husk), honeysuckle vine and palm fronds (tower).

What a great idea, it must be quite an attraction to see in person in Rochester.
