Off the Makkah Highway

We took a drive south in the direction of Jeddah looking for the popular Red Sand Dunes, but simply couldn’t find them with the sketchy directions we had. It turns out, we took a wrong turn so will try another weekend to find them. What we did go through was sort of scrubby landscape and not too picturesque.

This gives an idea of just how desolate much of the area was.

The kind of overloaded transport you can expect in those regions. Seen it so many times in India and surrounding countries too. Very lovely capture with the road and the poles next to it.
