New presidential palace

Another view from the 54th floor. This is the new presidential palace, which can’t be seen from street level because of the construction barriers, and because you’d never be able to get close to, let alone photograph, it.

We drove all around Abu Dhabi today, but really couldn’t find much interesting to photograph. Maybe the grand mosque really is the only reason to visit, although many things like museums are currently under construction. We found a couple of "souks," but they were in new buildings and more like tourist shopping malls than the real thing.

Helen, you certainly chose the best-placed hotel. Is it somewhere at the bottom of AD Island?

that's a big palace. I can see so many buildings, and some have still to be build i presume.

Pretty amazing that buildings like these are still being constructed - I can't begin to imagine the cost.

I presume the remaining blocks are going to be filled in with something of a scale more appropriate to presidentiality, maybe a tower or two higher than a puny 54 floors?
