Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and since we were making a tour of the Gulf States, we had to stop there, but our sole interest was the magnificent Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque, which without doubt was worth the trip alone. However, Abu Dhabi turned out to be a pleasant city, with things to see I hadn't expected. I didn't take a huge number of pictures there, but hopefully what I did take will give a sense of the city. It isn't a place that I feel a need to go back to, unlike Oman and Qatar, except maybe to see the mosque again (at night in particular) or to see an impressive museum they were building out on an island, but I wouldn't refuse a trip back, either. FWIW the hotel we stayed at there, the Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, was one of the most spectacular places we stayed at on our entire two-week trip.
I am again including some images that appeared in my main Gulf States tour gallery.
