Glimpse of UNESCO site

We drove all around old Diriyah, but the weather was ugly and it just wasn’t a great day for pictures, although I took some anyway, to justify the trip.

This is a view of part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the former Saudi royal palace, though the trees. We can’t get any closer than this because the entire complex is still under restoration. We were told, however, by a tour guide at the visitors center that in four months, it would all be finished. I’ll believe that when I see it because the project is enormous, including not only the substantial restoration but also several museums and a retail area. We did see progress since our last visit to Diriyah, so that at least was a good sign.
