Henna artistry

This Emirati woman was decorating women's hands with henna. I think it takes a while for it to come off so didn't have it done.

One of a series of images taken in the pavilion of the UAE, the guest country at the festival.

I don't understand the whole tatoo and piercing thing. Other than my ears (for earings only) - that's it for me and it took a long time before I had them done!

My daughters got henna tatoos at an international fesival in Indianapolis a few years ago. They last about two weeks. http://www.pbase.com/papadixon/image/89281033

Occasionally at a festival, some-one does henna here - and I had an Arabic friend who used to do it. Unfortunately, either the henna here isn't very good quality, or I didn't let it adhere long enough, but it wears off in a day or tow - so don't fear that it will stay a long time. When it's applied, you have to wear gloves so it stays on your skin long enough to create clear strong marks. My problem was/is that it cracks easily and then smears. But, it's fun. Would make you popular among the women, eh?

Awesome pov Helen! :) V
I didn't realize that Henna was done in SA; though I have heard of it being done in India. I think that you should have it done some time!
