Racetrack Playa

This area is a seasonally-dry lake bed that is known for its rocks that mysteriously slide across its surface. Strong compressed winds, ice-covered rocks, and slippery mud are the common guesses as to how this happens.

As the legend goes, nobody has ever seen them move.

Fair warning: Getting to Racetrack Playa from Ubehebe Crater requires negotiating a butt-numbing 27-mile washboard road.
