3/8/06 - Barn & Wood Montage

Went to the state arboretum to check out what's in bloom. Nothing! Froze my fingers to the bone though.
Stopped on the way back to shoot an old barn. Saw some old fence posts, too, and recalled some neat montages of old buildings sandwiched with old wood that I saw earlier this week at a slide shooters meeting (I don't do slides; was an invited guest. Thanks, Joe). So here's my version.
You can look here - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/56995396 - and here - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/56995397 - to see the two separate images that were sandwiched to create this montage.

Nikon D70s
1/30s f/22.0 at 31.0mm full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Terrific job and wonderful idea. I've been doing a lot of montages lately.

My "method"? Simple really. Take two image files - in this case the two that I've provided links to in my text beneath the montage - and sandwich them in the program of your choice. Although I don't use Photoshop, in PS place each image in a layer and adjust the opacity and blending method as needed. I use Picture Window Pro and use its "Composite" transformation to accomplish the same thing as layering in PS. Hope this helps.

Very nice - I haven't sandwiched photographs since my 'chrome era. I want to try this with my digital camera, too!

Brilliant image! I love the texture and feel this brings to the bar. Can you share your method with us?
