The marine park consists of the shallow, warm and remarkably clear waters of Darvel Bay with its many coral reefs, from which arise abruptly the rim of an ancient volcano.
The Park is home to a population of sea gypsies, people who mostly live in stilt houses erected in shallow marine waters.
