I stayed 4 days in an ecolodge in the shadow of Gunung (Mt) Batukaru; lodge at 700 m elevation, the mountain an extinct volcano 2,246 m tall. This was the (relatively) up-market part of my holiday. Sarinbuana is on a volcanic ridge and embedded in an extensive food forest (separate gallery to come). It is run as a permaculture forest, producing a lot of their food on-site and obtaining much of the remainder from the local community. Management supports or is involved with the local community, with creation of a bird protection zone in the farm forest, and with protection of the nearby Mt Batukaru rainforest.
