Longmen Grottoes (龍門石窟) are located about 12 kilometer south of Luoyang. There are about 2,300+ big and small caves housing 100,000 from tiny to huge statues of Buddhas, a lot more than those in Yungang Grottoes in Shanxi. Longmen is about 80 years older than Yungang, dating back approximately 400 AD.
