Archevêque d’Armagh en Irlande en 518, Vouga supplie Dieu qu’il soit démit de ses
fonctions épiscopales qui lui ont été imposées contre son gré. Il reçoit alors la révélation de
son futur envoi en mission de l’autre côté de l’Océan et il ne tarde pas à se rendre sur la côte
dans l’espoir d’y trouver un navire en partance. N’en trouvant pas, il monte sur un rocher et,
sur un acte de foi, lui ordonne de traverser la mer pour le conduire « là où il plairait à Dieu ».
Moins de vingt-quatre heures plus tard, il abordait au havre de Penmarc’h en Cornouaille.
Selon la Légende Nombreux sont les Saints Celtiques qui traversaient la Manche dans des auges de pierre ou sur des rochers….


Archbishop of Armagh in Ireland in 518, Vouga pleads with God to be dismissed
episcopal functions that were imposed against his will. He then receives the revelation of
its future mission on the other side of the Ocean and it soon goes to the coast
in the hope of finding a departing ship. Unable to find one, he climbed onto a rock and,
on an act of faith, orders him to cross the sea to lead him “where he would please God”.
Less than twenty-four hours later he landed at Penmarc'h Harbour in Cornouaille.

According to the Legend Many Celtic Saints crossed the English Channel in stone troughs or on rocks….
